About the book

Despite being a seal, Sammy is afraid of going in the sea. She sees other seals, and even humans, having fun in the sea, but still she feels anxious.
She watches the R.N.L.I. lifeboat crews bravely rescuing someone in trouble. Then, when she sees a puffin caught up in some plastic netting, so she follows the lifeboat crew’s lead and bravely swims to the rescue.
Later she takes to collecting any plastic waste and leaving it for the lifeboat crews so they can recycle it.
At the end of this fun rhyming story, lovingly illustrated with fourteen delightful watercolours from Ilfracombe artist, Pat Fricker, there are two brief non-fiction sections on the issues raised. One about how to help reduce plastic waste written with the aid of Plastic Free North Devon, and the other talks about the R.N.L.I. which is celebrating 200 years since 1824 when it began.
