Description
The Adventures of Arthur the Earwig is a whole lot of book for the price. Nick Dee has included not just a delightful rhyming story about a homeless earwig in search of a home for his ladybird wife and their 99 children, but also he has included an extra, non-fiction, section at the back.
This has a spread with information about insects and other minibeasts, explaining why they are so important to our environment, followed by another spread about how you can build a “bug hotel” without spending a fortune.
On top of all that, there are also five very small “Arthur the Earwigs” hidden among the pages of the book for children to find, to keep them active.
The illustrations are bright and cheerful in the “naive” style and will appeal to young readers and pre-readers alike, and there is even one final spread at the end, with “colour your own Arthur” and “colour your own Wifey” pages that you can photocopy as many times as you wish.

We received an advanced review copy of this book. As a family we all love The Adventures Of Arthur The Earwig. My little boy especially loves the bright bold colours used in the book and the fun colourful character’s. The story is great for the whole family and has a lovely happy ending. The facts at the back of the book are such a great addition and the kids can’t wait to colour in their own Arthur The Earwig.

I received an Advanced Review Copy in exchange for an honest review and have to say this book is amazing. It’s fun, poetic, colourful, endearing, educational and holds important values in a way that children will really understand. I will definitely be recommending this book to others!

The whole family absolutely love it. From our 2 year old all the way up to the 13 year old.
Not only is it a lovely story with lovely bright pictures, it’s also informative. The children want to build a bug hotel now!
Our 2 year old has a very set book routine for bedtime and never wants to change but this wonderful book has made the cut and has been read every night since we were given it!
The added ‘find the mini Arthur’s’ and colouring pages are a lovely little extra too!

The adventures of Arthur The Earwig is a tale of insect romance and human kindness, it emphasises the importance of looking after our insect kingdom and how we can help make sure they have somewhere safe to live in our own back gardens. The insect facts at the back are an excellent addition to help educate little readers and the colouring in and find mini Arthurs provide fun interactive tasks. The bright and colourful illustrations make it suitable for even the smallest of readers, it certainly grabbed the attention of our 8 week old baby and I’m sure it will provide lots of entertainment for years to come.

It can even withstand a certain amount of chewing and clumsy handling. I haven’t tried spilling a drink on it, yet, but I suspect it would emerge relatively unscathed.

I have four children ages 3 – 8 and all of us love Arthur! We have really enjoyed entering into his story, enjoying the bright pictures, searching for tiny Arthurs in the pages and it has got us talking about insects and how to look after them. Thanks to the Arthur story, the children have been keeping an eye out for earwigs in the the garden (and wifeys!).
I really like the information about insects at the back and there is even some pictures to colour in. All in all, a great family book. Hoping for more Arthur Adventures!

We have received an Advanced Review Copy of The Adventures of Arthur in exchange for an honest review. A great poetic story about an earwig called Arthur meeting his wife and searching for a new home. My children are hugely encouraged to build bug hotels and look out for insects in the garden. They now love earwigs!! We really enjoyed the Arthur Adventure and highly recommend it.
